Dear Ms Shalini,
I have been with the school since the time of inception of the school. We reposed faith in you as to us we had heard your personal reputation though we had not heard about American Excelsior. From time to time, I as a parent did bring some issues  to your attention but today the reason of this mail is to THANK YOU.
Under your leadership I have seen the school evolving and progressing.I like your personal touch and acessibility to the parents. It gives me confidence as a parent that my child is in the right hands.>
I really appreciate the way my son Ronak is being taught .The world map was torn into pieces  and then it was made a puzzle pieces .He was expected to put it togather.Every time he is given homework the teacher reads the homework in class and the student is expected to do it independently at home.
I am very satisfied as a parent and kudos to Meenakshi  for taking all these initiatives.
My daughter's writing has dramatically improved and she has started writing a diary in Class I.She has become so responsible that she comes back home to do her home work on her own.I am very happy at the warm bond Khushi and her teacher share.Geetika is a very warm person and my daughter loves her.
Thanks for you and your team's efforts.
Regards.

Dear Mam,
I received a mail from a parent thought will share with you, I feel this is a very big compliment to you and YOU deserve to know that all your hard work in the past is really paying well, although there would be very few people\ parents who really look into the quality of education and not the quantity, for all those who value education your efforts in the name of Excelsior school have really excelled and is been appreciated across.
All I can add is Mam thank you for helping parents like us to have a education system in Gurgaon run as a education institute and not business to earn money only.
Tomorrow when our kids will grow up to be the leaders in whatever they do the ownership of their success will first be your and always be cherished throughout.
Best Regards

Dear Ms Nambiar,
It was heartening to see your appreciation for Sahil's achievements in the Newsletter.
He makes us, as parents and his grandmother exceedingly proud. We want to thank and compliment all the teachers at the Excelsior American School for their guidance and encouragement towards Sahil. It was the loving and constructive environment that he got at Excelsior that has made this transitional phase in his life smooth. We are extremely happy and proud to be associated with Excelsior American School.
Thanking you.

Dear Ms Nambiar,
Hope this finds you well.
We had been in mumbai for divis assesment visit and would share the neurologists positive news with the excelsior family.
Divis progress in the last six months has been impressing -- credit for this goes to his being in the school, leading to phenomenal progress in his overall development.
All along the way we have understood how extra tiresome it becomes for you, the teachers, all the support staff, the classmates, their parents -- but would like all to know that all of it has been worthwhile and appreciable beyond words. the school enviorment has been important in bringing developmental changes in him, and the school will remain the prime place which can continue bringing the most phenomenal progress.
Continue to seek your support.
Thank you
Divis parents.

Dear Ms Nambiar,
The recent school trip to Agra was not just a great outing but also a big learning experience for my son.Apart from the historical knowledge Raaghav has also picked up that he must listen and obey to his teachers.I thus feel that it becomes my duty to thank the school for their endeavour.I would also like to make use of this opportunity to extend my gtatitude to the teachers specially Ms.Kamna for taking extra care for Raaghav\"s medication and giving his dosage timely.

Dear Ms Nambiar,
This thank you mail has been lying in my Inbox for sometime now and even though I saw it a few times I didn't know how to articulate how I wanted to thank you.
That particular incident (when I had messaged you) just triggered so many positive feelings for the school all because of you.
To start with - the other day when I had messaged you and I was so, so stressed that I just didn't know what to do and when you spoke to me and told me to tell my son that he won't have his test the next day just de-stressed me so much as though I had been meditating the whole day. It made me realize this is how a problem in a ideal world should be. Someone of authority solving a problem without the constraints one puts on themselves. What I want to say is that any other Principal would have just said that my son needs to study harder or that this is how a school works and would have just given me ten reasons why the test will be the next day. You, on the other hand decided that my son won't have his test the next day. Such a simple way and yet, very unconventional way to solve this problem. And when I think of this school and think of you at the helm of it I realize that I would love my kids to learn from a person like you.
Kids are best led by example and when I look at others and then at you I can't think of a better example. From the big things to the way you run the school and  how any parent can just come to you and talk to you about their worries, or how you organized the Science Week (and all the guards were wearing their full uniform- just made the occasion so much more festive and special), to the fact that you blog. I don't know of many Moms of 20 year olds who blog and of course the way you dress. Not many schools can boast of a Principal who can walk the runway as she does the school corridors with equal ease. If my kids grow up and have even half of all that you have I would consider them a resounding  success.
I have to once again say I admire the way you handle things. That is one of the best things about you. I don't know how you handle people above you who must be pressuring you to do things in a certain way but you don't bring that down. You take care of your own very well.
I am glad my kids are in such great hands.

Sincerely,
Shailley (Mother of Nida, Rytam)
PS- After writing this mail I waited for a day so because I felt maybe the next day I would feel that the mail was over the top but even after a day I feel there's nothing I would want to change in the mail as it says exactly how I feel.

How are you? The children were very excited about the Halloween party today. Hope they have lots of fun.

Dear Ms Shalini
I thought I would take this opportunity to also thank you. There are so many things you have to deal with on a daily basis, hourly and weekly basis from all angles of running a school and still you smile an make time to listen to the worries and concern of individual parents.
I have personally met you several times for several issues and never one have I felt you don’t have time for me or don’t care. This is incredible. To make time for so many parents and each child plus run a school with so many new aspects in so commendable.
The school is developing with so many academics and non –academics opportunities for the kids so we do not have to so much outside the school for them. Plus the teachers you have recruited are so warm and caring that they look after our children emotionally.
In this era- parents are often demanding of their kids and any institute they study at which sometimes creates more problems for directors but you always manage to deal with all situations with a smile.
I am still happy with my choice of your school in India- and if any prospective parents wish to ask me what I think of your school, I will be happy to recommend your or “our” school. Sometimes it helps parents decide if they have a current parents viewpoint.
Thank You for everything from all of us.
Warm Regards

Dear Ms Nambiar,
Thank you soo much for replying to my emails so patiently. I really appreciate that. You know this is the best thing about your school that you all so patiently answer to all parents queries. I have inquired many schools but have experienced this mannerism only with your school and definitely want to put my child in that kind of atmosphere where each and every staff is so humble, modest and moreover understands a parent's problem.
Thanks again from depth of my heart.
Looking forward to see you in future.

Dear Ms Nambiar,
m this a wonderful thing you have started.most of the parents are very finicky about hygiene but never bother to make their kids do any cleaning job at home.just lecturing them is not enough.when they clean it themselves they'll realise how IMP it is to leave the toilet clean for other's to use.
keep it up.

Dear Ms Shalini,
We have been in continuous touch with Ms Rachna and the activities going on in the class. We are really happy with the progress of activities in various subjects. Shardul has shown significant progress in English, EVS, Mathematics and initiation on cultural curriculum is good. We were hugely impressed by the confidence with which Shardul presented his power point presentation off late. We will appreciate if more effort is put in Hindi as well along with more practice sheets.
We wish Ms Rachna quick recovery and hope she will join back soon.
Looking forward for your continued support.

Dear Ms. Shalini,
As a parent myself since our relocation I rely very heavily on fellow parents for any and all referals ranging from dentists/pediatricians/stores/schools etc.
Excelsior has been such a solid framework and foundation for our settling down in India. Kids took to Excelsior from day 1 and each morning they are eager to get to school. My son Samarth complains that his baby sister Avantika delays him each morning. Its a joy to see our kids enjoying each day at school and which has made  our relocation so much more easier. Friends from US inquire how our kids are liking India and how are they settling. I have sent out Excelsior website to many of my friends who want to see where our kids are schooling and they themselves also are contemplating relocation. They are encouraged to see a school of Excelsior standards and facilities.
I am very sure that parent referral would be a great initiative to take Excelsior forward. Please rest assured that at any given opportunity we would be proud to introduce Excelsior to fellow parents.

Hi,
This incident  brought tears to my eyes too. I truely agree with what Ms Shalini said. It is difficult for us as adults to show such examplory behaviour and these kids have so much of wisdom, maturity, compassion and selflessness !

A big hug and blessings to these kids :)
We are proud to be a part of this school !

Hi,
Just wanted to say Thanks for quite a wonderful year, specially for Urja.
As you know we relocated from Dallas last Sept & she joined your school in Cultural II with Ms Vishali as her teacher. The first 10 days were all she required to get over her past school experiences and start looking forward to her new school, teacher & friends. She learnt to read, multiply, play soccer , horse riding and quite a few other things , in the last few months.
She is now in 1st Grade with Ms Geetika and so far all seems to be going well.
Barring a few hiccups from our end ( not at all from Urja's ) , we are very pleased to have chosen Excelsior because we feel that it is doing very well for her overall development. We were keen that aside from Academics ,Urja should also be exposed to a wide spectrum of activities. Which luckily your school has provided us .
A large part of the credit goes to you, my dear & the way you have  chosen & trained your Staff.
The School environment is so important for our children specially because they spend majority of the time with you ,learning all that they can. Please keep up the good work & also commend your Staff & Colleagues for the same.
Lookin forward to rejoining in July......
Have a great Summer!

Enjoy.......

We’re looking forward to the next session.

Hi,
What a wonderful and thoughtful idea Ms. Shalini! These letters would be great keepsakes for our children to remember their early childhood years. Samarth and Avantika have throughly enjoying schooling at Excelsior and look forward to their school day each morning. Dear Shalini,
Thank you for providing children with nurturing and non-judgmental environment in the school and classroom. We could not have found a better school coming from US. Just knowing that our children were not threatened and intimidated while away from us for the major part of the day made a lot of difference. Kuddos to you and your staff. Grisham remembers Ms. Parul and Ashi talks about Ms. Ekta. They are currently going to a school with a hands on learning and whole-child philosophy in San Francisco Bay area. Please do convey my warm regards to Ms. Ekta and Ms. Parul for being patient and loving. A very happy new year to you.

Imogen has really enjoyed her time at the school and both my wife and I wish to thank you and your staff for all the help and support you have given us over that past 5 months.
We are sad to be leaving India so soon and we will miss all the friends that we have made our experience here in India so memorable.
Best of luck for the future.

Dear Ms Radhika,
I would like to share this incident with you all. On 06th January, my son Aryaman Gupta [I B] was playing in the school after school hours, in my presence and under my supervision. At 04.15 pm he fell from the slide and was howling in pain and bleeding profusely from the mouth.
Ms Shalini Nambiar came out on hearing the screams and the guard Tiwari picked up Aryaman. She got the school driver to get the school vehicle and they rushed us to the hospital.
All this happened in 60 to 90 seconds. Ms Shalini was very concerned and reacted very fast.
Mr Tiwari, the guard did not get flustered and he knew exactly what he had to do. The school staff stayed with me till things was under control.
My Friend Sheetal and her husband Avnish were with me throughout the traumatic experience. Sapna was very concerned and reached the hospital too.. They are all Excelsior parents.
We are very thankful and grateful to Ms Nambiar for the immediate evacuation to the hospital.
I wanted to share this with all the parents since it happened in school. Even though it was much past school hours, our school was so well equipped with handling an emergency.
Aryaman has cuts inside his mouth and on the chin. He is recovering well and is enjoying all the visits from his classmates and school friends and all the cards that are coming from the school, from Ms Navneet and all the children of Grade I B. He will be back in school soon.
Our sincere thanks to Ms Nambiar and all the staff of Excelsior American School.
Best wishes

It's gives us so much confidence that our children are in safe hands.Sanskriti cannot stop talking about her Ms. Shalini all the time. The confidence that Arjun has developed is very satisfying.

Dear Ms Shalini,
Its very nice to hear that the Excelsior wishes to maintain a healthy child teacher ratio inspite of the fact that there could be several students packed in one class would mean more profits! Parents should be happy that there is a school that cares for the children more than the numbers. As far as the the growth is concerned, we have seen the school grow fast in the last one year.
Besides, the quality of teaching will always ensure a huge patronage and a time comes when people strive hard but do not get admissions in the school.
Personally, I support your philosophy completely and truly believe that the children do much better when given a nurturing environment. They feel confident and cared for. They do notfeel inhibited which is very important for their personality growth. This, according to me is more critical than to let them be simply good in academics. Their creativity needs to be fostered. I have seen that in my son Aaryan. He is an intelligent and confident and a well mannered child with greatcommunication skills. I don't wish to send him to a school where he will just be another roll number.
I hope the school will always set an example to others by setting unprecedented quality standards which will truly produce bright global citizens of the future.
Please let me know if we can contribute in any way to be a better part of our children's lives in association with the school.
Regards and Thanks

Dear Ms Shalini,
Hope you remember our daughter, Aditi Badde who started as a 20 month old at Excelsior in 2006 Feb. She spent two wonderful years at the school and developed into a very confident and young child. Unfortunately, my husband got transferred to mumbai in April, Aditi is now at Bombay Scottish. First Parent Teacher meeting for me was not pleasant as Aditi was not happy chaniging schools and here was a class of 45,finding difficult to adjust. But when I had a detailed sitdown session with her after this, she was able to act on the feedback and transformed herself. Second PTA was a pleasant one and the teacher could not relate to the earlier feedback shared by herself. Yesterday, she had her first term report card and her class teacher remark was \"Aditi is a polite and well behaved child and also an outstanding student\" and with principal\'s stamp of \"Terrific Work\". Both my husband and self give most credit to Excelsior for preparing Aditi to be able to adjust to a very competitive and challenging life in Mumbai. She remembers all her friends from her discovery days even today and keeps asking her dad when are you getting transferred back to Gurgaon so that she can join Excelsior again. Hope she is welcome back whenever we are back at Gurgaon. Thanks Excelsior and wish you all the best.

Dear Ms Shalini,
I have just had a moment to sit at my PC and pen a few words. We are still in the process of settling down here in Gurgaon. Having our kids at excelsior has been an enriching experience.
Both Dipak and myself would like to thank you for the fun filled science exhibition weekend. We throughly enjoyed the displays and interacting with the students.
Emphasis on sports is vital to the well being of young minds and we would like to appreciate all your efforts in this regards.
Cheers

Dear Ms Shalini,
I was thinking that every Excelsior child should learn an Excelsior school song. Urvashi and Kaveri had a very nice song at their Challenger school in California. Please do ask Mr Hersh if their schools in Texas have a school song, I am sure it can be used here or modified as required. It will make the children proud of their school.
Thanks so much for a wonderful Science Exhibition. It was great to see the children completely absorbed in their experiments, enjoying what they were doing and able to explain concepts and facts. We were very proud to see the range of topics being covered.
Warm Regards

Hello Shalini,
I just wanted to drop in a line to let you know that Samarth and Avantika have now each had a couple of days at school. Samarth was a little disoriented the first day. This was the first time that he has gone to school from 8-3pm and the heat is a bummer. But today being his second day, he came back happy and exhausted. He seemed to have made a couple of friends and loved the splash pool which he finally got to experience since he had not taken his trunks the first day.
Avantika is also coping with the new schedule of 8-1pm but seemed very happy and exhausted. She was a little dissappointed that her brother got to get in the pool today but not her so I explained that her pool days are different.
My husband and myself had really good interactions with their respective teachers and we were very pleased with their understanding and appreciation of our concerns and transitional issues.
I myself got to observe the kids during the morning session and how the school functions. I would like to thank you and excelsior for offering a happy and nuturing environment to these kids.
Many Thanks and Regards
Monica Chopra

Hello Shalini,
Happy Teachers' Day!
We all hope for the very best upbringing for our kids and count on the school to play a significant role in this process. I am happy that I chose "Excelsior" for Chinmay where he will have the opportunity to develop into a compassionate, intellectually motivated, independent and confident individual. While we all recognize that the teachers who work with him everyday have helped him mature so much over the last several months I also want to let you know that I do realize that the driving force behind all this is the director of the school. It is so wonderful to see your passion and love for what you do. I truly hope that you will continue to drive forward the philosophy of the school no matter what obstacles and parental pressure you might face in the process. There are very few schools that encourage children to think independently and develop into their unique selves. It is certainly not an easy task and you are doing a phenomenal job in making this happen at Excelsior.
Wishing you many years of success in playing a very important positive role in the lives of all the children you educate at Excelsior.
Best Regards
Sonam

Dear Shalini,
Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to enable all of us - the mothers feel proud of their being.
Enjoyed the every moment of my time spent in school today. In fact, yesterday during a conversation I told Archana about the remote chances of my presence in the school today. But I am glad I was able to make it. It surely was the best stress buster possible for any mother.
Thanks and Regards

Dear Shalini,
Many times in the past you heard from me and/or my wife complaints about some aspects of the school we consider (at that time) should/could be solved.
Well, in this opportunity, let me tell you is different; in this opportunity I (we in fact) am sending an email to tell you that we are very happy with the school,
we are very happy with the teacher and her professionalism and focus on the children ( in this case Gabriel's) education.
We really appreciate your effort to put a program and professionals together to provide with excellence what we, as parent, expect.
Thanks a lot and rest assure Gabriel will be here the second week of August.

Hello Shalini,
I would like to share two very distinct aspect of the school which has made me really happy and I can see my daughter undergoing a marked change in her personality.
Sports Day owes one such example. All the children were given a Medal and they just loved it. There was a visible sense of achievement on their lovely faces. My daughter Adya slept with her medal. She wore it all through the next day as well and showed to everybody she met.
The children do get a platform to speak during assembly – show and tell. I specifically noted how the school director Ms Shalini Nambiar encourages children especially those who are shy to participate, be it sports or speaking on stage and overcome stage fright.
What else should one want, when the school puts so much emphasis on developing real life skills
Best Regards
Archana

Dear Ms Shalini,
Congratulations for a wonderful Sports Day! It was great to see the children participating whole heartedly in every dance and event. The races were wonderful and it was a heady feeling seeing the children sprinting across the track. The events leading up to the Sports Day were wonderful as well - the Cricket Matches, the Soccer Matches, the Cross Country run and the Long Jumps - the children have thoroughly enjoyed and participated
in every event. The prize distribution ceremony was spectacular - seeing the grins on the kids faces with their medal hauls was priceless. The Excelsior philosophy - "Every Child is a Winner" was truly demonstrated.

Dear Shalini Ma'm,
I am writing in to applaud the sincere efforts put in by your team and you in the recently concluded Musical Fiesta at Excelsior school.
It was an excellent idea to get the kids to do a group performance in English and Hindi on Day 1 allowing for them to develop class spirit and overcome stage anxieties. The initiative to have the kids sing along with a family member was a brilliant idea to get the kids to bond with the family member through this medium and resulted in tremendous moral boost and stage confidence. Trisha's performance with her dad was a very special event  for us and will always be a very precious memory.Thank you for giving us this wonderful opportunity to be part of Trisha's music-centric journey.
And a huge round of applause for Derek Sir, for providing the background score tirelessly through the festival....in addition to his training given to the children.
Warm Regards

Dear Shalini,
I am very happy to see the progress in my daughter Sanskriti. The way she can communicate and the confidence she carries, i am sure no 5;6 year old would have.
I want to share her comment with you. She played the soccer match today and morning when we wished her good luck, her answer was "mummy it is not important to win or lose, what is important is to participate".I could make out that this isMs. Radha speaking. We were very happy. Infact her grandparents sometimes really wonder if she is 6 years old or more.
We wish you all the best and hope that you do really well and make excelsior the best school in the town.
Thanks

Dear Shalini Mam,
Its nice to know that work on sports facilities is on an upswing. I am sure the students will be excited about it.
Also I just wanted to take a moment to once again applaud the way kids are being introduced to various science and mathematical concepts right from the beginning and the way they are grasping it. We recently had a wedding in the famly and my daughter, Misha ( Dinosaurs ) amazed everyone by talking about everything from the solar system to polygons etc. Infact her grandfather who is a mathematician is very excited and is already looking forward to her summer break so that he can tell her more about geometry and algebra.
Best wishes,

Dear Shalini Mam,

This is Daniela Baldini. I'm writing to you in order to tell you that we have been moved to Argentina, and my self and the girls are not returning to India. My husband will go back in March for twenty days.

I also wanted to tell you that the girls miss the school very much. And I miss it because here doesn't exist a school like yours.

I love the school and the system, I wanted to get in touch with the founder to see if we could bring the school to Mendoza.

Thank you very much for everything,

Best wishes,
Daniel

Dear Ms Ruphinder & Mrs Nambiar,
Just wanted to let you know that Misha is super excited about being the Child of the Week. She called a dozen people including her pediatrician to check the school website. We were thrilled about it too but as parents what made us really happy was the fact that she now wants to do even better so that she can be on the website again and again.
Thank you very much for helping boost her self esteem and confidence.

Dear Parents,
We are pleased to inform you that we have observed positive changes in Anannya's personality and her behavior. She has become more independent and confident in terms of completing task on her own. She also takes initiative in learning new things.

During her recent trip to Pune, Anannya visited Agha Khan Palace where Gandhiji were kept as a prisoner for more than two years. It was amazing to see Anannya taking so much interest in his photographs and other stuff displayed there. When we told her that Gandhiji was kept there by Britishers, she amazed us by telling about chacha Nehru and Gandhiji and how they made britishers quit our country.

We would like to extend our congratulations to both of you for helping Anannya in achieving this milestone. Ms Rupinder is clearly an asset for your school. Thanks!
Regards

Dear Parents,

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know as I had gone for the Reading Mom's programme for 6-year-olds, I wanted to suggest a formation of a book club for these little kids.

This can relly help them inculcate a habit of reading. It could either be a Parent-child book club or Teacher-student book club. Here are some guidleines on how to start a book club for kids. The guidelines mentioned here are for 3rd grade-8th grade. But I feel it could be applied to 1st graders as well. I picked up these guidelines from the site www.scholastic.com.

Go Clubbing
Start a parent-child book group and reap benefits beyond reading.
Martha C.Z. Bayliss

With the proliferation of book clubs for adults — from neighborhood groups to Oprah's Book Club — it's no wonder that kids want to take part in the action. But with homework, sports and much more competing for your child's time (and yours), the idea of setting aside a couple of hours every month or two to discuss books can be daunting. Consider, though, that a parent-child book group can help you:

• get closer to your child
• share different aspects of his life
• expand your conversations beyond "How was school today?"
• provide insight into your child, her peers, and how they think

Best for kids in 3rd to 8th grade, a reading group can be a wonderful opportunity to see your child in a different light. Making the book club a priority will help make reading at home a priority as well.

To get started, follow these tips:
1. Compose the group: Invite kids in your child's grade or close to him in age. Look for members with similar interests and abilities — but not too similar, to keep the discussions interesting! How many? Aim for a group of 8 and 12 (including adults and children). If some are unable to attend, there will still be enough to have a lively discussion. Any larger and there won't be enough time for everyone to participate.

2. Appoint an organizer to keep the schedule, send out reminders, and be available to answer questions. If your group's kids are young, have a parent act as the organizer; but older kids will be able (and eager) to handle this responsibility themselves.

3. Set a schedule: Meeting monthly or even bi-monthly gives everyone time to read the selection without too much time pressure. Some groups meet only during the school year; others meet only in the summer. Find what works best for yours. "I found it best to choose dates at the beginning of the year rather than leaving it up to each host family to pick the date for its month — that way there were less likely to be conflicts," says one mom. Or plan a recurring date, such as the first Monday of every month.

4. Find a place: As a group, decide if you would rather meet at participants' homes or at a public spot, such as a bookstore, library, or coffee shop.

5. Select the books: Have the host of the first meeting choose the first book, then let the kids decide on the rest. Some groups select books months ahead of time; others choose only one or two in advance so they can see what is new or interesting.

6. Prompt discussion: Encourage each child to come prepared with at least one topic for discussion or question to ask the group. What happens when someone doesn't finish the book? Find out why, and don't exclude her from the conversation. She may have a compelling, interesting reason worth discussing.

1. Focus on the kids: You and your fellow parent members are there to facilitate discussion, but mostly to listen. Let your child take the lead — you'll be amazed at what you'll learn.

2. Plan an activity to complement the book. You might plant seeds after reading a book about nature or try your hand at poetry after reading Robert Frost. My local librarian hosted a very successful reading group for the Angelina Ballerina books, accompanied by a tea party.

3. Set up a snack: Agree in advance: Will the host provide all the edibles, or will the responsibility be shared? Are there any foods that are off limits due to allergies or other sensitivities?

4. Keep it simple: Don't plan elaborate activities, themes, or meals, and make sure the books you choose are within the capabilities of the group. Thirty minutes to an hour for discussion and another half hour or so for any activity or snack afterwards is enough.

5. Stay flexible: Your group will naturally evolve as your kids grow and change. You may meet more or less frequently or choose different books to explore. What matters most: Keep the pages turning and the conversation flowing!

"A DAY WITHOUT LAUGHTER IS A DAY WASTED"

I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."
[IMAGE] [IMAGE]

I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
But though the gold became heavier each day,
The black was as light as before.

With curiosity, I opened the black,
I wanted to find out why,
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,
Which my sorrows had fallen out by.

I showed the hole to God, and mused,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"
He smiled a gentle smile and said,
"My child, they're all here with me.."

I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,
Why the gold and the black with the hole?
"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
The black is for you to let go.
